Upstream, due to the R&D difficulties for PMP, a large proportion of PMP products in current market are designed by foreign makers or makers from Taiwan. Chinese domestic design houses may make most of their advantages on design ability and low operational cost, in order to occupy a bigger market share.
In the current Chinese PMP market, there are more than 40 brands, with over 70 models, The domestic brands outstrip foreign ones in quantity by far, similarly to MP3 market. And the Chinese domestic makers can be divided into two groups: one is self-design and manufacturing with the parts purchased, another one is simply assembling.
