For the fiscal year ending June 2007, the company's generation capacity was 3,400 MW of electricity of which 57% was from gas fired, 23% from hydro & other renewables, and 20% from coal. AGL Energy's key strength is its strong market position. AGL Energy is the leading private owner of renewable assets in Australia. In July 2007, AGL signed a foundation gas transportation agreement with one of Australia's largest gas transmission companies, Epic Energy.AGL Energy operates in the midstream energy, wholesale energy, power generation, and utilities retail / wholesale components of the energy value chain.
