Production
China’s methylamines production started from the 1960s, but large scale production didnt’t begin until the late 1980s and early 1990s. The capacity has been expanding all the time. Besides, the product structure has changed as well in China’s methylamines production. There are three species of methylamines being produced in China, namely MMA, DMA and TMA. This report not only surveys the historic product structure, but also the current situation, from the aspects of both the nationwide situation and individual producer’s product structure situation.
Import and export
The import & export situation of methylamines in 2002 and first half of 2003 are summarized. The import & export quantity of methylamines has been quite small, comparing with the production volume.
Early in 1997, in order to meet the domestic demand, a part of methylamines needed to be imported, especially DMA and TMA. But with the development of methylamines in China, the import quantity has become quite little now.
As to the export, the quality of Chinese methylamines products cannot meet the international market requirement. The transportation condition is tough for this product. In addition, the DMA is a governmentally controlled item. So the export amount of methylamine is rather small.
Consumption
Methylamines can be used to produce agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals and chemical intermediates.
In this section, the consumption structure of methylamines is introduced by these three species separately, including their historic consumption structure and the current structure as well as the current volume in each field.
