Chinese sulfanilic acid industry experienced about 20 years of development, and now China is one of major sulfanilic acid production countries in the world. In the previous years, EU countries and the U.S kept carrying out anti-dumping investigations against Chinese sulfanilic acid. In spite of that, China’s sulfanilic acid still enjoys sound development, though the situation is not that bright as before.

Most of Chinese sulfanilic acid is exported overseas as the domestic demand is quite limited. Now China’s production capacity of sulfanilic acid is over 30,000t/a, with the annual output of over 20,000t/a. With such a large production, China has now already become an important player in the world.

China’s sulfanilic acid production is highly affected by its raw materials, including aniline and sulphuric acid. Because of the huge capacity of aniline industry, the effect of aniline is not that severe. However, affected by the sulphur supply shortage and rising price, the sulfanilic acid industry has gone into an awkward situation.

There is also opportunity for China’s sulfanilic acid industry. Chinese domestic demand from the dyestuffs and pigment is increasing, though the growth rate is not that high as the demand from international market.

Moreover, threat also exists. Chinese governmental policy is influencing this industry. The export tax rebate reduction and the measures to control pollution have brought about further challenges to China’s sulfanilic acid production, which has already been under the pressure of the comprehensive price increase of raw materials taking place all over the world at present.
