Zahlen und Fakten zur Studie:
  • Report Structure
  • This Report is designed with two major purposes in mind. Firstly, we consider the impact that ITSM will have on the implementing organisations and the rationale for implementation. Secondly, we give due consideration to the solution providers both those that have complete infrastructure offerings and those with more dedicated tools that go to make up ITSM capabilities.
  • Section 2
  • Within this section we detail the fundamentals of ITSM, providing the background needed to contextualise the need for ITSM. The rationale for ITSM is also discussed, and how ITSM can be used to run IT as a business. This latter phrase is one that is common in the ITSM market, but this Report cuts beyond that simplistic statement to uncover the reality of how IT can become a value-add to any organisation. Finally, no ITSM Report would be complete without helping to create an understanding of ITIL and how it can be best used.
  • Section 3
  • In this section we take a detailed look at the requirements for creating a foundation architecture for ITSM. There are a plethora of tools available, each of which addresses some discrete element of service management. We believe that these can only become truly effective when based on a foundation architecture, and we detail the rationale for this view. There is a strong synergy between transaction management and service management as well as some points of diversion. The models built for transaction management can be utilised with correct extensions for service management.
  • Section 4
  • There are many distinct identifiable areas within ITSM, and this section of the Report looks at implementation and control of each of these elements. It takes the ITIL framework as a reference point so that there is cross-referencing capability between the ITIL models and the reality of implementation.
  • Section 5
  • The market dynamics of ITSM are such that we believe it has the capability of consuming other management technologies that currently occupy their own distinct space. As ITSM comes naturally from a background of infrastructure management it comes as no surprise that the major players in ITSM are those that currently have a high presence in the infrastructure management space.
  • Section 6
  • We provide a detailed look at the vendors who operate in the infrastructure space and the solutions they have to offer. Additionally we look at a range of discrete tools' vendors and the solutions they have to offer. Although there is no direct comparison between these within the Report, this section provides a comprehensive guide to what is available in the market today.
